How to Handle the Worst Failure
How to Handle the Worst FailureStudent's that are new to the University of Kansas don't necessarily have a problem with homework, as they only have to write essays on whatever topics are available to them. However, when things go wrong, it's hard to ignore how difficult essay topics can be for some, and how detrimental a bad first assignment can be.First of all, let's get a little bit more involved in the student's work and look at what happens if an essay topic isn't used to its full potential. When an essay topic is chosen, it's easy to put a lot of thought into it, and it's easy to make a plan for the essay that includes working backwards from the end result. By creating this type of plan, it's easier to decide how to proceed with writing the essay, as well as ensuring the writer is on track with the rest of the essay. But if an essay is chosen, and then never used, does this mean the student's work is of no value? Not necessarily, but it does give the essay writer a chance to ques tion how good his or her original plan was. And a poor first choice could mean that the writer ended up writing something weak, or spending a lot of time rewriting something that was originally so good. Now, as a student, it's nice to see a success story where someone didn't make any mistakes, and went through the process of getting good grades. But it's also nice to see that there are going to be some failures, and sometimes when things go wrong, we can't be too hard on ourselves, and we should accept that they're not going to work out exactly the way we had planned. So what do you do when your first assignment doesn't work out the way you had hoped? The main thing to do is to keep going - and try to see where your mistake was, and try to change it. You may realize that your mistakes were due to an oversight, and you should have paid more attention to details or omitted information. It may also be that you were trying to make something complicated, and it didn't come out as you had i ntended. You also have to remember that if you make a mistake, you shouldn't take it personally. You should focus on why you made the mistake, and figure out what you can do to fix it. If you make a mistake when editing and need to make corrections, don't get too angry, just be patient and keep going.Another key point to remember is that no matter what the situation, the University of Kansas offers many different ways to help students. One of these is Enrichment Learning, which is a wonderful opportunity for those struggling with their assignments. Enrichment Learning is not only great for those students that had a bad first assignment, but also for any other students that have had a hard time with their first assignments. As with any type of failing badly, you should keep going and give it another shot. Don't be discouraged, but don't be overzealous either. Give yourself a second chance to do a better job, and hopefully you'll get lucky and continue to have success in your new assign ment.
